Europe is set to get half of its electricity from renewable sources by the end of the next decade, according to the Guardian.
Unfortunately, the UK's Conservative government is travelling in the opposite direction. They are dismantling the green policies established by the Liberal Democrats during the time of the Coalition Government and cutting investment in wind power. The Conservatives are focusing on natural gas and "fracking" rather than decarbonising the production of electricity.
The Liberal Democrats set out plans to double the UK's production of renewable electricity by 2020 and make Britain zero carbon by 2050. It now seems unlikely that Britain will reach the European Union 2030 energy and climate objectives under the present Conservative government.
